12/16/2023 0 Comments Dirt 5 or wrc 10![]() ![]() ![]() Dirt 5 technical director David Springate revealed last month that when the game joined Xbox Game Pass, the amount of players rose very quickly. Dirt 5 has also been available as part of the Xbox Game Pass service for several months, as the game's developer has stated that this service has massively boosted the game's player count. While this free trial lasted only a few days, it did expose the title to players who may have otherwise never tried it. Back in March the off-road racing game was made f ree for all Xbox Live subscribers, giving nearly all Xbox users a chance to take the game for a spin. The game includes a number of different game modes to test players' driving skills alongside a variety of different race locations such as Greece, South Africa and New York City.ĭirt 5 released back in November 202o, but the game has recently received a burst in popularity thanks to Xbox. It didn't take long to learn WRC 10 is a match for WRC 9 where it counts, offering a smile-inducing driving experience that isn't quite as hardcore as DiRT Rally 2.0. The simulator is the latest release in the long-running Dirt series developed and published by Codemasters. However, whose who don't own WRC 9 but who are interested in rally racing will see this as the most comprehensive official WRC game to date, with lots to enjoy and plenty of hours' worth of entertainment to be found across its various modes.Off-road racing title Dirt 5is set to receive cross-platform online play in the game's next major update. The Belgian event replaced Rally GB on the calendar in 2021, and was won by Thierry Neuville in his Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC. It's not a must-buy for those who own WRC 9 unless they are a rally fan desperate for the new stages for the 2021 season or the updated liveries, as the anniversary additions are the only major update from last year. Theres a lot of new content from KT Racing as the free WRC 10 October update adds new events with the Renties Ypres Rally Belgium and three historic examples to try out with the original drivers, co-drivers and cars. The similarities to previous entries will leave some players with questions about whether WRC 10 is a must-buy at launch, though. The title is not that big a leap from last year's entry, so although it's a good game it's maybe not essential for those who already own WRC 9, particularly given that it doesn't look especially different from the current-gen upgraded version of the last game. Kylotonn has already advised that there are updates coming with time, which will no doubt improve things further, but WRC 10 does fall a little into the trap of the annual sports release.Īs such, WRC 10 is an extremely fun game with a few caveats around the amount of changed content from last year's entry. And they're both great games for what they propose to do. Both games look great but Dirt 5 is specially gorgeous. You get GTs, rally cars, trucks, buggies, sprint cars. However, for those who don't take things too seriously it can add a little bit of charm - it's not Burnout, but a rock accidentally sending a car careening off track still has some comedy to it. Arcade handling, damage is only visual, racing around the world in flashy circuits with lots of different car classes and a funky soundtrack. Drivers clipping a bit of debris or scenery will sometimes see their vehicle do an extravagant flip or spin, which could be frustrating for those who are desperate to beat their best time on a stage. It's worth noting that WRC 10 does suffer from the same occasional physics glitches that previous games in the series have seen. Those after a pure simulation experience can turn off as many supports as they see fit and grapple with stages that require tight reflexes, but newcomers or those who want something a bit more relaxed can feel equally at home. It might not be quite as challenging as some may want, but it certainly provides a wider array of options than the arcade feel of Dirt 5. From a gameplay perspective, WRC 10 fits into that 'simcade' space between a serious racing sim and something a little more accessible to newcomers.
